The little store at the front is cute and has lots of things in it my kids wanted of course. They watched ended up getting a bracelet. The food was good. The server was nice even though she was busy and people were still there by the time the restaurant closed. The blackened fish I got was pretty tasty and surprisingly I liked the tuna dip even though I'm not really a tuna salad person. The kids thought their food was good too.

I had the shrimp special and the gumbo, my husband had the fish basket and we really enjoyed them. Our service was excellent! The ambiance was wonderful right above the beach watching the waves roll in! Definitely had the old Florida feel!

Excellent fish, they offer take out. The wait was just 10-15 minutes for take out. Beautiful views from the restaurant.

The view is absolutely amazing. Came here in December so definitely a different atmosphere than summer months. It was an early dinner and no issues with seating for a large party. Lots of food choices and drink options. Many different types of seafood as well. Had a bowl of gumbo with lots of meats and shrimp. Great for groups of all sizes and really nice views throughout the restaurant. Would definitely recommend for those in the area especially around sunset!

We came at 4 pm on a Sunday. Happy hour was from 3-5 pm, so I thought it would be busier than it was. We sat right away, and our server, David, came over to greet us. He did not tell us it was happy hour but I saw it on their menu online and asked about it. He gave us the scoop, and we ordered a draft beer and a house margarita. We also ordered the crab and spinach dip appetizer. The drink and app came out very fast, and David took our dinner orders. I ordered the firecracker shrimp tacos and my husband ordered the shrimp po boy. Both of our meals were excellent! We had the same feedback that the shrimp should be tossed in the sauces instead of the sauce on top. It would have spread the flavor out more through the whole taco or sandwich. We were in and out in less than an hour. When we were being sat, the hostess asked if we wanted to be inside or outside. The inside tables were right against the open windows, so we felt like we were already outside. Great views of the beach from most tables. When we were leaving. We saw a very long line of people at the door waiting to get in. I would recommend and return.

Sometimes, it's important to correct reviews and ensure that restaurants, especially family owned ones, get the fair respect they deserve for the hard work they do. Thus, had an opportunity to give The Back Porch a couple more visits, mostly lured by the draft beer selection. As a result of that, the review of the initial experience is no longer accurate. The extra visits also presented an opportunity to try out a few dishes, such as the Happy Hour peel n eat shrimp for $9.99. Not only is the price incredible, but the shrimp are delicious. Another dish that's a must is the firecracker shrimp, served with a delicious sauce and loaded up with flavor. While it isn't spicy, it has a slight bit of heat, generally on the mild scale. As during the initial visit, the people were incredibly kind, the food is very fast to come out and the draft beer selection is spectacular. The Beach Cat from Back Forty Brewing in Alabama is a remarkable easy drinking ale, with just a slight bit of hops that's barely noticeable, but also adding a great complexity. There is also the Dead Parrot beer, which has gradually become a local favorite. One area to improve upon is the cleanliness of outdoor tables that are positioned on the beach, more specifically the plastic pollution. For several days, I observed loads of blue plastic straws lying under the tables, without anyone cleaning that up. While I've personally done a bit of cleanup on behalf of the restaurant for the sake of saving wildlife, this is something the restaurant should manage if they position tables outdoors and have a cocktail bar there. It could also be a good consideration to replace these plastic straws with biodegradable paper ones. The good part is that there are plenty of trash bins positioned outside, so cleaning up is not hard, just upsetting that the patrons think that leaving trash on the beach is acceptable.
